Even Religious People Don’t Like Religious People

Religious adherents like to believe that their faith brings people together.  And it does, as long as it’s the same faith.  I’m not even really talking about something like Islam vs. Christianity here.  Even within one faith, there’s a zillion branches and denominations..

I hope I don’t have to point out which of those I made up for comic effect.  Islam and Judaism are just as fractured.  Even the Buddhists have 20 different sects and they love everyone.  If they can’t agree…

My personal religion is Don’t Be A Dickism.  And I think most people can agree on the central tenet.  “Don’t Be A Dick”.

I was asked in an interview the other day about my DVD title “Be Yourself…Unless You’re An Idiot” and what it meant.  That list above is a great example.  No matter how much you may purport to love other people, there’s still someone out there that you think is an idiot.
