Maziar Bahari on NPR

I was just listening to part of an interview with Maziar Bahari on NPR.  He’s the Iran correspondent for Newsweek.  He spent 4 months in Iran’s notorious Evin Prison where he was beaten, interrogated and tortured for being a spy, which of course he isn’t.

At one point during the interview he talked about the interrogator asking him about the two fan pages he subscribed to on Facebook.  One was Anton Chekov.  They thought that his affiliation with a possibly Jewish author was a no-no.  So they beat him.

The other fan page?  Pauly Shore.  Now there’s a reason for a beating.

You can hear the whole interview (it’s quite good) at http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=13
